But in case you're still wondering, I think all of the books would be appropriate; as in, nothing offensive, if the scariness of LWW wasn't a problem. I might recommend The Horse and His Boy. I would think your boys would like that the horses are talking characters in the book. And it's a pretty simple storyline, compared to the other books.

I'm reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader to my Language Arts kids this year, and I TOTALLY agree that it's a challenge to read Lewis out loud. He was the master of run-on sentences. I find myself changing words, too, for my ESL kids.

And finally, as an English teacher, may I applaud you for reading to your children regularly. SO helpful in language acquisition. And I'm sure a time you enjoy sharing together. Way to go, Wonder-Mom! :)Leslienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9042171.post-64098524292768349772011-01-26T21:53:16.000-05:002011-01-26T21:53:16.000-05:00Aw - thanks! And Thanks for the recommendations. ...Aw - thanks! And Thanks for the recommendations. We recently started Prince Caspian.... got about 6 -7 chapters in. Then the holidays hit and we went too long without reading it (boys spent a week at Gma's and Gpa's in there, too). So, haven't been back to it. We would need a real refresher before we pick it back up. But until then, we were really enjoying it.Kellihttp://DykstraDash.comnoreply@blogger.com
