Purple Pinkie

While using the measuring tape in the boys room last weekend, I accidently let a long amount of the tape retract quickly. It flew back and snapped my finger and instantly turned it purple. It's my smallest finger on my left hand, the one I probably use the least... And yet, everything I do seems to hurt it. I think I'm going to have to find a dark color to paint my nails to hide the bruise, no usual pastel pink is going to work on this one.

Curled Up…

I love seeing him curled up  with a good book (and no, this is not during "mandated" quite reading time, it's all on his own).

There was a time I thought we'd never get him to sit still long enough to read a book.

And the other morning, I caught up before everyone else, snuggled up with his blanket, sneaking in a few chapters before school.

Grand Hotel like Never Before

I recently went to my annual retreat on Mackinaw Island with my dear friend, Jill.  However, instead of the usual four girls, we had eight this year and it was AMAZING!  Beyond wonderful!
As usual, I spent the night with Jill the night before and worked our way to the island the following morning.  Since we had 8 this year, 2 rooms, we were hoping The Grand Hotel would at least put our rooms on the same floor if they couldn’t be near each other.
However, we were shocked to find out that they put all of us in the suite called “The Apartment of the President of the United States of America”.  Amazing decor, amazing space, amazing views…

Of course, our stay at the Grand Hotel is always spoils us with 3 five-course meals and beautiful accommodations.  We even managed to make it into a few of the retreat sessions with Ken Medema and Sandi Patty. 551670_441227369221843_100000037517668_1741386_842232091_n
The Winsome Women got a little “rowdy” up at the Cupola Bar when the “piano man” started taking requests.

Just wishin' you'd take me fishin'

Daddy, when we catch a fish, can we put it in your water box?
(live well)

Because I haven't yet acquired my fishing license, I'm forced to sit back in the boat with my book, shell pistachios, and work on my tan. It’s a shame, really.

About halfway through the evening, AJ ‘casts’ his entire pole into the lake.  And it’s gone. Gone gone.  Of course, he is immediately heart broken. Daddy quickly explains that he is not the first person who has ever done that and that he himself has thrown his pole into the lake while casting.

He then went on to explain that it just means they need to go and buy a brand new pole… but this time not a “Cars” pole, but a “reel” fishing pole…. which after about a minute AJ found hilarious because he got the pun.

Fancy Pants for the Spring School Concert

We had to go out and buy khakis for the boys as they live in jeans and athletic pants... which were strongly discouraged for the concert.  Don't they look so nice (and grown up).

It's a Good Morning!

Have you heard this song, yet?  It’s Mandesa…and Toby Mac….TOBY MAC! (We love Toby in these parts).  Anyway, if song doesn’t just get you up and moving… or at least car dancing and getting stars in the car pool lane, I’m not sure what will.

And in the car this morning, on the way to school, we determined that today is a good morning.

  1. We rocked out to Mandesa and Toby
  2. Andrew get’s to be in the Reader’s Chair at school and has an extra gym class today.
  3. AJ has a field trip to a farm
  4. I treated myself to a McDonalds oatmeal for breakfast.
  5. We are going out on the boat this evening
  6. Grandma & Grandpa are coming to visit tonight and…
  7. It’s Friday!!

Deep stuff

AJThe other day, after I picked up AJ from school and was head to his friend’s house, out of the blue he asked me:

“Mom, can God not sin? Or does He just choose not to?”

A seemingly innocent question, but, man, the thoughts behind it for a 6 year old.  Whoa.

I want to… I really do.

I just read this… and now I HAVE to do a better job blogging for the 46 year old me. (Yikes… 46 doesn’t sound that far away)  *sniff*
