Water, Water, Everywhere...

Marc's out of the house during the day and I'm getting SO MUCH DONE!! In fact, by the time he comes home, I am wiped out.

Ok, quick update. We now have running water again! We lived out of pitchers, buckets, etc... filled with water for two days and finally got our shower fixed. And it wasn't outrageously priced either. The part was the most expensive. I can't complain. Of course, the water we saved during those two days, was quickly lost since I immediately ran a couple loads of laundry and the dishwasher. (Oh wait, the water ran ALL FREAKIN' WEEKEND)....no savings here.

Well, last night we ran some errands & spent a little of the Christmas gift cards. I got a new electric skillet with mine. But I haven't replaced the old broken one yet. My thinking is that I will try to use it one last time, and then not have to wash it...just throw it away. I'll have to think of something really messy to make in it.

So, I mentioned I got some new sheets for Christmas. Well, I was so excited about them, I put them on our bed right away. Bad idea. This is one time when it is a good idea to wash then 'wear'. Itchy, Itchy, Itchy. Of course, at the time, we had no water to fix this problem. However, last night we went to bed in nice, new, freshly washed sheets. That's a little bit of heaven right there.

Today, I just worked around the house, went and saw our insurance person, and made dinner and crab dip. Mmmmmm. Dinner wasn't all the hot, but the dip was yummy. :)

I also started reading the Left Behind series again. I say 'again', because I read the first three as they came out. But it took so long for each one to be published and they were so good, it was like torture inbetween books. So I stopped reading them thinking I'll wait until a few more come out. So when the 7th book came out years later, I just started over since I wouldn't remember everything and everyone and all the details etc... That was like in my senior year in college (1999-2000). So now...again, years later, even though I've read up to the seventh book, 5 more books have been released (with another to be released in March according the Left Behind website), I am starting over. And looking forward to it. Might be a slow go with a little guy...but would like to get through them none-the-less. I highly recommend these books to anyone (I also HIGHLY recommend you read them in order, DAD!)

Ok, I am off to go read since Andrew is in bed. Oh! But first... I have to tell you. More and more steps are taken each day. Also, I told you about his "mean glare". Well, we really haven't seen that one much the past couple days. He has a new look. Picture a cute smile. Now 'cheese' it up BIG TIME. He does a super big smile, complete with nose scrunch and squinty eyes. It is TOO funny. If I had my digital camera I would try to capture and share. Hopefully, It will be fixed soon.

Ok, NOW, I am off to bed to read. 'Night, Y'all.

Ketchup

Ok, it's been a few days since I've posted. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Ours was a very White Christmas.

First things first. I had my facial last Thursday with Kari. It was really really nice. Although I don't see any changes in my face. I'm still recognizable. :) It was relaxing though. We then packed up and headed to Ohio. They had around 14 inches of snow. Fortunatly, we were leaving late enough that the road were pretty much nice and clear. We arrived around 7:30 that evening.

We didn't do too much on Christmas Eve. Just hung around Mom and Dad's. Worked a little on food prep for the weekend and other odds and ends, but mostly just hung around.

On Christmas morning, we got spoiled. Spoiled, Spoiled, Spoiled. Marc and I exchanged are gifts then, too, along with Mom and Dad. I got a couple sweaters, some bedding (which I really wanted and we needed), some kitchen items (also needed), along with some other odds and ends (although nothing was either "odd" or an "end") such as a CD, lotion, earrings, etc... Marc got some T-shirts, a pocket knife, some fishing knives, a video game thing, sweatpants along with the standard Pringles and Little Debbie Christmas Trees. Andrew got some books, a fun ABC caterpillar, a puzzle and a little man recliner. It's so cute. But it's still at Grandma and Grandpa's 'cause it wouldn't fit in the car. So, thank you VERY VERY MUCH!!! (Even & especially for the items not mentioned).

We then headed to the Steiner Christmas which was nice. It was fun to see the kiddos together and to see everyone we don't get to see often. We played some silly games and ate too much. Of course, we were the last to leave since the basketball game Marc was watching went into overtime. :)

Sunday we went to church in the morning, then headed to the Huffer Christmas afterward where once again, we ate too much. We also played a few silly games and just had a really nice time. We packed up and headed home last night. We left later than we would have liked, but got home around 11, which isn't too bad.

However, when we got home, we found our our little drip in the shower upstairs had turned into a full fledge leak. It was like our shower had been turned on, even when it wasn't. So right now our water is turned off and we are living off water in pitchers, mugs, bowls, etc... It's grand. We ran to Lowes this evening and bought a part, so hopefully Marc can get it fixed this evening. We really need to do laundry and run the dishwasher...I could also use a shower. I'm dreading that water bill.

Andrew did really well the whole weekend. Somehow he's learned this mean glare of a look. It's a killer. I'm not sure where it came from, but it's pretty funny when he does it. He's also getting more and more confident everyday, taking more and more steps. He's also getting into more and more things. :)

Today Marc started his job. It was alright. The first day is never a 'fun' one. It was also a busy one for me. Trying to get the house in order after dumping everything from the weekend in the dining area last night. But I got a lot done. Tonight, we ran a few errands, had dinner and now Marc and Andrew are watching the Pistons while I update the blog.

I know this probably isn't a very exciting blog. But thought I would get caught up.

I'll Be a Guinea Pig for That!!

Ok, couple of things to report on and hopefully this will be short.

First of all, Andrew is taking more and more steps. He's done two in a row quite a few times now and has done 4 in a row once. It will not be long before he is totally cruising around as his confident grows. He was really funny tonight. Kari and Andy were over and Andrew was just putting on a show for us all. He was playing with Rocky and the tennis ball and just so proud of himself. He kept us laughing.

Well, not sure if you read past posts, but I reported earlier that I had made some decent gravy, despite my many failures at it in the past. So we had company over last night and I made a nice roast, potatoes, carrots, beer bread, dessert and thought...I'm going to make gravy. It was a total disaster. I couldn't even serve it. I don't know what I did different, but it was disgusting. I guess I'll just chalk up my good attempt as a G.V. (gravy fluke)

So we spent a good portion of today doing laundry and packing stuff up. We are heading to OH tomorrow for the weekend (so this might be my last post until Monday or so). Of course, packing up Andrew means starting a day in advance. Plus we are taking Rocky. So we are going to take Marc, myself, Andrew and his huge car seat, an 80 lb. Lab and everything that goes along with him, all our gear, all Andrew's gear, food for different Christmas', AND presents in our car for a 4 hours ride. It's going to be tight. We are hoping to get out around 3ish tomorrow and get there before dark and pray for clear roads.

We were hoping to get out earlier, but Kari called and get this... We are going to get microderm facials tomorrow (value $100) for FREE!! From what I understand, we are helping newbies learn how to do it and they need people to practice on. I'll be a guinea pig for that!! So at 1:00 tomorrow, we are heading downtown for our free facial. I am really excited about it! Yea, Kari! (She knows someone who works there or something like that).

Ok, I really should continue to pull things together for tomorrow, 'cause I have a feeling it's going to be a little chaotic. If I don't write again until next week....

Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!

Andrew is Grounded from the Phone

So this morning I am carrying around Andrew and talking on the phone to my mom. When finished I put Andrew down and must have placed the phone within his reach. I was working in the kitchen and saw that he found the phone and is pressing buttons. Well, we don't have long distance on our phone, plus you have to press the 'talk' button after dialing in order to place a call. So I wasn't in a huge rush to run over there and take the phone away. I finished what I was doing (like a minute tops) and went over and hung the phone up. Less than a minute later the phone rings...

Me: "Hello"
Man on other end: "This is 911 emergency, is everything ok? Someone there just dialed 911."
Me: "WHAT?! Oh, I am so sorry, my son just had the phone..."(I continue to apologize up and down and all over the place).
Man: "That's allright, we're just checking".
Me: Still apoligizing profuselly, "Thank you".

So then I dash around the house like a mad women cleaning the house which was awful and getting myself out of my pj's and dressed, because I've convinced myself a police cruiser will be knocking on my door any minute. (Which never did happen, thankfully and at least I got my house in a somewhat presentable order fairly quickly).

Little stinker of mine. :)

............at least that I saw and that's what counts!!

He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!! He took his first step!!!!

............at least that I saw and that's what counts!!

We were at some friend's house tonight and Andrew was up WAY past his bedtime. He's been standing now for a while. Well, Andy (Dressler) was holding his keys out in front of him and Andrew took a tiny little step before sitting and deciding crawling would be much more effective. Watch out world! Here he comes!!

Today was a nice day. We got out and about early this morning and ran some errands. I had to get my tags renewed for both cars ($180 for two little stickers is a rip off!). And Andrew got to play a little in the play area at the mall since the Secretary of State is in the mall.

We also hit a camera store hoping that someone out there would be able to fix my digital camera since I am going CRAZY without it. Well, get this... We decided on a whim to stop in to Best Buy and have them check it out since all other places failed us. We had purchased it there, but since no where else could help us we didn't figure much would happen with Best Buy either, but thought "what could it hurt to try". Well, anyway, we had completely forgotten that we had purchased the service warranty from them when we bought the camera. So FOR FREE they are going to send it away for us to have it fixed. Now, according the Best Buy (and every other camera store I talked to)...just to send it away costs about $170 let alone fixing it. So that service plan REALLY REALLY paid off assuming all goes as planned. And we should have it back around the 1st of the year. Bummer we don't have it for Christmas, but we will survive. I am really excited that my camera is getting fixed!! Yea!

So then we go to leave Best Buy (of course not without stopping to let Marc drool over the huge flat screen plasma TV's first) and it's totally gross outside. It went from just being darn cold out, to practically blizzard conditions just while we were inside the store. It was really icky. Fortunately, by tonight it wasn't too bad when we headed out.

We are having company over for dinner tomorrow evening, so I need to get some food out of the freezer to start thawing. (I'm really into freezer cooking). Then I need to head to bed. 'Night.

bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

We made it to church this morning. It was rough and it came early, but we made it. Andrew did really well in the nursury and didn't even cry when I went to pick him up. We hit the Meijer on the way home for a few things that turned into a full fledge shopping trip. We came home made lunch meat sandwiches for lunch and took naps. Mine was really short 'cause it took me a long time to fall asleep and then of course 10 minutes later Andrew woke up. :) The rest of the day was lazy...just hanging out and watching football. The Viking's won, so my hubby is in a decent mood. Little man is in bed and we folded a bunch of clothes (Ugh!). So now, I am updated my blog before bed.

Wow, what a boring post! Is this even worthing publishing? Will I put my readers to sleep? Will they remove me from thier 'favorites'? Am I on anyone's 'favorites' to begin with?

I really need to liven it up a bit. Ok, here goes...

...

...

And....

I've got nothin'. Nothing is coming to mind. Darn ten minute nap!

So if you've made it this far and haven't either gone on to a different website or nodded off with your head on your keyboard typing bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb... then congrats.

I hope your weekends were wonderful.

Little Climber Boy...Ba rum ba bum bum

Not a whole lot has happened the last few days to update you on. Yesterday we ran some errands in order to NOT run them today (figured today would be CRAZINESS). Wrapped presents, made homemade pizza for dinner tonight and we just watched "Dodgeball". It was kinda funny...kinda.

Little man is sleeping now finally. He refused to take his last nap of the day today, no matter how tired he was or how many times we tried.

Get this. He is a fast little stinker. Today, while I'm unloading the dishwasher and watching him at the same time... I look up and he has crawled on TOP of his saucer trying to crawl on the coffee table. He is totally standing ON TOP of this thing! Then later in the day, I think he is playing on the foot of the couch and when I look he is gone. So I jump up to look for him and he has crawled up the stairs and is at the top step. AUGH! (Bad mommy for not watching better) But really, who'd have thought?! Just think what it will be like when he is walking. No...let's not.

So, tomorrow, if all goes as planned, we are going to church. It seems like its been forever since we've been to our church. Last weekend I got the flu. The weekend before we were in OH. (We did go to church there) The two before that we were in MN&IA (went to church once there). Before that we were in Ohio again. So that's like 5 weeks since we've attended our church here. Looking forward to it.

Ok, well I think that is all. Hope you are all having a great weekend and have your Christmas shopping done!

Kelly Wins

If you read past posts you know that I am an Apprentice fan. So tonight after a THREE HOUR finale (holy cow, completely and totally too long...a bunch of filler garbage), Kelly was chosen over Jen as the next Apprentice. It seemed like it was a unanomous decision among everyone but Trump, but he came 'round in the end.

But here's the thing that gets me. They have already finished taping and showed previews for Season 3 which starts Jan. 20 (and you know I will watch). But each season seems a little more gimmicky. The first was the best, because each person (mostly) seemed to have a good head on their shoulders and really treated the show as a business opportunity. This season it's like they picked people with a little more quirkyness, a little more likely to cause contraversy, a little more to make "good tv" which is bad tv in my mind. So then this next season seems even more so. They are creating 2 teams...Book Smarts against Street Smarts. I think the concept of the show alone is enough for good TV, don't start throwing in things just to create more DRAMA. Ok, hope that made sense... either way off my soapbox for the night.

As far as what's going on in my life. Last night was nice. We went to dinner with Kari and Andy, while Andrew stayed with a babysitter. I guess it went ok. They were both alive when I came home, although you could tell Andrew had been upset (but he was really cranky and tired before we even left for dinner). Then I put him down for the night and we rented "I, Robot". Not a bad movie, not a great one. Don't need to see it again.

Today, for some reason seemed like the LONGEST day! I'm not sure why, it wasn't packed or dead either. It started with Andrew's 9 mo. checkup. He's doing well at 29+ inches long and 19 lbs. No shots this time either. Yea! Although we did have to have his ears checked on the machine (it blows air puffs in his ears) to make sure all his ear infections were gone. He HATES that! So do I! I have to totally hold him down while he screams. Over all though, it was a good visit.

Not a lot happened the rest of the day. Same ol' same 'ol...not going to bore you with reading about it. So, I will leave you with that.

A Little More Alive

I need to make this quick as little man is sleeping and have a lot to do in the next 3 hours or less.

Today is my birthday. I am officially 27 since like 6 something AM this morning. It's been a good one so far. I played with a bunch of 4 and 5 years old this morning, who sang Happy Birthday to me and we had brownies. I got a Chili's gift card in the mail from my MIL which made me totally do a little dance! (I'm completely serious...I danced). Then tonight we are getting a babysitter (for the first time EVER) to watch Andrew for a couple hours while we go out to dinner with Kari & Andy to Rio Grand. Yea. Should be a nice time. Well, I have nothing profound to ramble on about at the time...maybe later tonight.

Y'know something funny has happened with this blog. I started this blog totally on a whim. I had found someone else's blog from a message board I frequent and saw that it was free, so I decided to start one. I didn't really have any idea what I would even do with it or if I would even use it. And now, it almost like I look forward to posting each day. Not so much that I want people to read it or anything, but it really is almost theaputic or something. I don't know. I guess that's you always hear about people keeping journals. Plus, I really must say, I enjoy having a written peek into my world that's a little more detailed and a little more alive than simply looking at my calendar and seeing, "Dr. Appt 2:30 pm". This blog seems to have taken off. Who'da thunk?

Ok...I guess I did have something to ramble about. Either that or I am procrastinating from doing what I should be doing.

The Countdown Begins

The countdown begins...54 minutes until I'm 27. That means I'm closer to 31 than to 21. Not a profound statement I know...but true none-the-less. Right now I am only 5 years away from 21 and still 5 years away from 31, but not in 54...err..53 minutes.

Not that I really mind too much. If I look back at 21, it was a good year. I was living in a huge house downtown with 8 other girls trying to get through finals week of my junior year of college. But at 27, I have a home, a husband and a son. Much better. At 21, I worked for a realtor in the basement of her home around 15 hours a week for $8 an hour and hated it. At 27, I'm working at home for free and love it. Much better. At 21, I don't really think I could imagine myself being a stay at home mom with a baby. At 27, I can't imagine not being a stay at home mom with a baby. Much better. 48 minutes to go.

Today seemed long...really long. Normally, when Andrew wakes me up in the morning, we slowly get up and going. Playing as I drink my coffee and plan the day, meals, to do list, etc... But this morning, we got up and dressed and hit the grocery store & bank right away since we had a lot to do the rest of the day. We had our small group over for desserts tonight, and this morning our house looked like a war zone. There was a lot of cleaning and baking to do. (Plus I am bringing brownies to Church tomorrow for Jesus' birthday party). 44 minutes to go.

So we get home, Andrew goes down for a nap, I start working/baking. Now remember, I'm coming off the flu, so by 2:30 pm, I was wiped out. When Andrew went down for his afternoon nap, so did I. It was really nice! Marc got Andrew when he woke up, so I got about a 2 hour nap this afternoon. It was WONDERFUL!! 42 minutes to go.

Then, get this....I made gravy. (You'd be proud Mom Dykstra). We had a little leftover roast. So I read the back of the cornstarch box and made gravy and we ate leftover roast and gravy over rolls for dinner. I was very please since I have made multiple attempts at gravy in the past to no avail and had all but given up trying. Anyway, the gravy turned yesterdays leftovers into a meal my hubby raved about. Not the most healthy, so I did add a side of spinach salad. 40 minutes to go.

Of course, there is always the last minute scramble before guests arrive and the stress level got a little high around 7:10pm, but we pulled it off and it went well. Of course, people didn't eat near the amount of dessert they were supposed to, so now we have all these sweet leftovers in our home. BAD NEWS. 38 minutes to go.

Well, I better get going. Better gets to sleep before midnight or .....or wait, that's Christmas and Santa. Anyway, I better get going anyway. Got to get up early tomorrow for Church.

36 minutes to go...

Intense, Addicting, Unforgettable

These books have messed me up, man! I'm referring to the series by Brock and Brodie Thoene, the "Zion Covenant". They are a fictional account based on true historical events of the time leading up to and including the holocaust. They are intense. They are addicting. They are unforgettable. I finished the last book about 7 months ago and yet, each night, as I rock my Andrew to sleep, I hold him a little longer, a little tighter and say a little prayer about how thankful I am that we are not in that time and place and I don't have to face decisions that real people had to make. And sometimes, like tonight, I find myself in tears thinking about a character named Lucy and her little baby and knowing that for everyone one fictional character in this book, there were hundreds and thousands REAL people dealing with the same. And on these night, I have a hard time putting Andrew down at all. And I find myself praying harder, and holding longer.

That being said, these books have messed me up...in a good way and I really do highly recommend them.

Ok, now, that I've regained my composure...

It's been a couple days since I've posted. Partially, because Saturday night, I got the flu. The "too-gross-to-describe-might-as-well-sleep-next-to-the-toilet" type flu. It was awful. So I was up all night. Unforunately, Andrew was up all night, too. Why? I don't know why... I really wish I did. Anyway, so here is poor Marc. Up every hour or so with Andrew, and then in between he's coming to my aid for something or other ("something or other" = "things to gross to mention"). So needless to say, we played hooky from Church the next day. I was feeling better, but weak as all get out. Just walking up and down the stairs was cause for a nap. But by today, I am feeling about 85% better back to normal. Just a little tired. Even ate a real meal for dinner, too. (Beef roast that we were supposed to have for dinner yesterday, but at that point food still sounded discusting).

Andrew seems to be doing ok. I guess since I got the flu, my unscientific, unmedical conclusion would be that his "puking incidents" I mentioned earlier might have been a mild form of the flu as well. He did receive a flu shot, so I guess it could have been much worse. Ok, here's a new one. I beleive he is feeling fine (other than I tooth that might be working it's way through). But all of a sudden, he won't eat certain foods that he used to love. Like bananas and applesause for example. These weren't just "ok" foods to him... these were his favorites and now he gags when I try to give them to him?! Weird. But he is still eating other foods. So is this a weird phase? I don't know. It's not just those two foods either. I'm having a hard time finding much he seems to like right now (and he used to eat EVERYTHING), but when I do find something...he can put it away. :) He IS my never ending challenge.

Ok, I need to get about a thousand things done. We are having folks over for dessert tomorrow evening, so I need to get busy.

Yet, I Sit Here and Write...

I need to go to bed, and yet I sit here and write. Why? I don't know. I don't have anything especially important to say, yet I sit here and write. Nothing profound or in depth, yet I am here...

Today was a nice day, yet a very unproductive day. I feel like we did nothing around the house. We ran a few errands in the afternoon. I was able to take my coffee maker back and get a new one ...will have to let you know how it works tomorrow...er, later today. We stopped at the little mall for Andrew to play in the play area. He also got to see and wave at Santa. I thought about letting him sit on his lap and decided not to because A) He's already seen Santa twice B) He either screamed or was clearly just not impress both of those times C) I didn't have a camera with me D) They wanted anywhere from $11 to $26 for them to take a picture. OUTRAGEOUS!!

Tonight we had two couples come over. We snacked and taught them to play Texas Hold 'em. I totally lost! But, it was really nice. Andrew went down fairly easily so it was nice to have a baby-free evening with some friends.

Ok, now a quick update on Andrew. Maybe somebody will shed some light on whatever is going on with him. If you a read a few posts ago...we had what I would call a "puking incident" Thursday morning. It was awful, however, I thought it was over and done with. He acted like his happy self all day, except that I could hardly get him to eat anything. Not cheerios, not sweet potatoes, not even bananas. And this is the little boy that eats EVERYTHING and a lot of it. So then last night, he gets a little sick on Marc as he's putting him down for the night. Today, again, he acts totally fine and happy....EXCEPT, he doesn't want to eat. I was able to get him to eat a little fruit and graham crackers, but NOTHING compared to normal. Now, to his credit, he is still nursing ok, but we are down to nursing only about 3-4 times a day. So then, this afternoon, right before we decided to run errands and I was trying to see if he would eat a little applesauce (which he normally loves, but wouldn't eat a bite), he totally puked (a lot) all over himself. What?! So we change him and started a load of laundry (I hate laundry) and headed out and he was happy. We get home and again I am trying to feed him something healthy and give up and give him a graham cracker, when suddenly there is this horrid smell! HORRID! He had a total blowout. This was a "strip-the-clothes-put-him-in-the-bath-spray-Febreeze-and-put-a-fan-in-the-room" type blowout. Maybe the worst I've seen from him. Now, when he was more of a baby-baby...blowouts were par for the course, but we haven't seen one of those in months. Let alone one of this caliber. But again, he was happy as can be. So, anyway, I am not too concerned about him at this point, since he seems to feel fine, I just find it bizarre that he's not eating, puking and then this blowout thing. We'll see how this weekend goes and call it from there.

Ok, I really need to go to bed now. Night.

I Need My Coffee...

*sniff* I have to take back my new coffee maker. I received a new coffee maker from my parents as a birthday present this past weekend. Well, all week, I've been wondering what wrong with it. Now I know each coffee maker is different, and you kinda have to know how yours works and adjust accordingly such as add more or less grounds or water, etc... So, I've been thinking that I just haven't got the maker 'down' yet. The coffee it made was always less than the water I put in it. It wasn't a huge discrepancy...but one non-the-less and sometimes significant enough for me to add more water. The last two days, I've even dumped a pot and made a new one. So this morning, when I wake up and find only 2 cups of coffee made out of 6 and water all over the counter, I lift the maker up and find a steady stream of water pouring out. HUGE BUMMER. So I think we are going to run out and see if we can get it replaced today. (I NEED MY COFFEE!) :)

Andrew seems to be doing ok. He didn't sleep as well as the night before last night, but it wasn't too bad either. Pretty normal. He did get sick a little on Marc last night, so I'm not sure what's going on there. He didn't eat hardly anything yesterday, though. The inside of a breadstick, some peas and graham crackers are about all he would take...refusing even his favorites, bananas and sweet potatos (not together of course). :) I'm thinking it just might be some little stomach bug and hopefully is now gone.

Well, it's Friday and we really don't have much planned and I am happy about that! Might hang out with some friends tonight, might not. Either way is fine. I think Marc and I might run some errands today and of course, work on the never ending laundry.

Y'know...we do a decent job of washing our clothes when they get dirty. We really don't have that much of a dirty clothes pile. It's the darn folding and putting away that gets us. And it's really not hard. In fact, folding clothes is mindless and can be done in front of the TV, yet we really struggle with it. (Doesn't help that we have a 9 month old that is usually playing in the TV room when we are in there). So what usually happens is the clean clothes get piled onto our 'laundry table' next to the dryer and we grab our clothes out of there. Not a good system...but what we tend to do none-the-less. Well, so there... you've received a glimpse into one of our many weaknesses. I know, I know, you are totally dumbfounded and shocked that we have weaknesses. :)

Did you catch the Apprentice? Jen in the final two!?!?!?! C'mon!

Well, I hope your weekends are fantastic. And Jill, it was GREAT seeing you yesterday. Wish it were more often! Thanks again for lunch!!

BEST NIGHT worst morning (TMI)

I woke up this morning to Andrew crying as usual telling me he was awake. So I look at the clock to see what time it was. It was 5:30 am. Then I realize that this was his FIRST time up!! He slept from 8:30 pm until 5:30 am. That's 9 hours straight! A record and going into the baby book.

So I get up to get him and realize he is still sleepy...YES!! But I notice a large dark spot in the crib. But it's dark in the room, so I feel it and yes it is in fact very wet. Great. He wet the bed. I pull him out and feel him and he's totally dry. WHAT? Sometimes when he cries a lot his tears make his blankets a little wet...but this was wet-wet. Confused, I sit and nurse him and he falls back to sleep. While rocking, I feel a very wet part of his blanket. (STOP READING NOW IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH). It totally smells like puke. So now I am really confused. He had to have just done it since it was so wet and he would have woken up earlier had he done it earlier. But why would he puke 9 hours after he's eaten?. And this wasn't just a little spit up, or over eating type...this was full blown full tummy soaking everything. Now here's my dilemma... I have a sleeping boy on my lap wrapped up in a big blanket with a 'wet' corner that's needs to be placed in his crib with a 'wet' area. So, (don't judge me), I grab a towel, while I am toting around a sleeping boy who has his head on my chest, I try to place this towel over the 'wet' area. As I am fiddling with his, my sleeping angel with his eyes still closed lifts his head and totally pukes all over me. It was like a volcano erupting. I didn't know he could contain so much in the little body of his. He opens his eyes. Then turns and lays his head back down. Poor little man.

So now I am standing in the middle of his room. Just standing there holding Andrew, soaked. Just standing. Can't really think of what to do. If I move too much, I threaten to make a bigger mess, but we are both soaked. Still standing. Of course, Marc wasn't home. He plays basketball on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30am. Still standing. My mind is racing on what could be wrong with Andrew. Should I take him the doctor? What did I feed him for dinner last night? Could it be an allergic reaction? I don't think he had anything new. Still standing in the middle of the room...soaked.

Finally, (ok, I really only stood there for probably 1 full minute, but that seems like a long time to just stand there not sure what to do), I put Andrew on the changing table and stripped him and gave him a quick 'wet wipe bath'. I don't know about you, but after just waking up from puking, he wasn't a big fan of getting naked and having a cold wet wipe ran all over him. I changed him and found something to put on him. Then I got out of my stinky clothes. Finally I switched on the light to see what I was dealing with. Ugh! Very Gross. I had to totally strip his bed including the bumber pads and blankets.

By now, through a wipe down, diaper and clothes change, and lights on. Andrew is now fully awake and actually acts like he's feeling fine. And he's acted fine so far since then. He is back down for the nap, but I have been careful about feeding him. He's had a little more milk and some graham crackers and so far, so good. I'm not sure what that was all about this morning, but hopefully it's now passed. He's napping now, which gives me the opportunity to share this lovely story with you all!

But again...to end on the good note...he had his BEST NIGHT EVER!

He's Bring Home the Bacon...our 8 mo. that is...

This will be quick.... today was church in the morning, then Andrew got to taste desserts at noon. He's made $40 this week! Not too shabby for an almost 9mo old. :) He's bringing home the bacon! (Literally, since he get's paid in gift cards to Meijer).

Today will just be working around the house. Laundy, cleaning, laundry, working on Christmas stuff, laundry, making dinner, laundry, etc... :)

Oh, I think we finally have our Christmas plans nailed down. We will head to Ohio for Christmas weekend, and head to IA in Mid January for anyone who was wondering. It will be nice to have a few weeks home now. Already Andrew is sleeping much better.

Ok, all for now...may post later, but then again, maybe not. :)

I miss the Kewpee!!

We are home again. And to stay for a few weeks. Yea! Starting tonight, we are working on Andrew's sleeping habits. Since we've been traveling, I tend to jump up as soon as he wakes up. Well, he then learns to wake up 4-5 times a night. Well, NO MORE, I say! :) So, pray for us tonight. Might be a long one!

Our weekend was nice. We got to Ohio Friday evening. Dropped Andrew off at Mom and Dad's and Marc and I had a date night! We went to a China Buffet (not great, not bad) and to see Friday Night Lights at the cheap theater. (Bad!). But it was still nice to get out for a while.

Saturday, Mom and I did a little shopping and worked on some projects at the house. Of course, we had lunch at the Kewpee! I miss the Kewpee!! Even Andrew like his Kewpee. Well, he ate bits of mine at least. Then we met up with the Huffer side of the family and celebrated Thanksgiving at the Golden Corral before heading back to Stacy and Ed's to hang out a bit. We had a really nice time. Especially coming up with 'rules' for this year's Christmas exchange.

Sunday, Marc wasn't feeling too hot, so the rest of us went to church. Andrew did great in the nursury and of course everyone doted on him afterwards. I can't blame them, really. Lunch at Godfather's and then back to my folks. We hung around and relaxed until Andrew's bedtime at 8:30 before hitting the road. The good thing about Marc sleeping in was that he was able to drive all the way home. Andrew slept beautifully the whole way, and I crawled in the back and got a good nap in myself.

Today was busy. I paid bills, clean the house (which is currently a mess again), ran errands with Andrew, Marc put the Christmas village up, and I hung ornaments. I'm also trying to work on Christmas gifts whenever I get a few moments as well.

Well, I would love to post a picture, but my digital camera is on the fritz. And some of you know, some may not...but my digital camera just might be my prized possesion. I don't leave home without it. It's very upsetting. Especially with this being Andrew's first Christmas and my CAMERA IS NOT WORKING!!! It really is driving my crazy. I've called all around and no will fix Kodak Easy Share Digital Camera. So, I'm not sure what I am going to do yet.

Ok, enough ranting. :) Hope you had a nice day.

Played Hooky for Christmas Lights

This will be quick, I am exausted. I played hooky from my workout class at church tonight and instead we got out Christmas tree and lights up. The tree isn't decorated and probably won't be until next week, but it's still pretty with it and the windows lit up. Of course, Marc is starting to work on his village. We had to run out tonight and get some 'snow'. The cashier thought we were buying tree skirts and I kept explaining to her over and over again that they were not tree skirts. Finally, she looks at me with a smirk and says, "If you think they are a tree skirt, I can ring it up half price, because tree skirts are on sale". The light bulb clicked, "Yes, I do in fact think theywould make a lovely tree skirt". BINGO!

So, tonight was the Apprentice and ER. Neither was all that impressive. But I'm loyal and will be tuned in next week all the same.

We are heading to Ohio tomorrow, so we will be heading out in the early afternoon. That means I have a LOT to do tomorrow. Clean, pack, buy dog food, etc...

Ok, Have a wonderful weekend. 'Night.

Nice, Decent Nap

Well, we woke up this morning to lots of snow. It was the sticky, cruchy, great for snowmen, bad for scraping of your windsheild type snow. Of course, Andrew and I needed to be at church at 9:00 this morning. Since last night was SO BAD and he was up all the time, I woke up late. Like...really late. So I have Marc get Andrew ready, while I quick get ready...then I look outside and realize, "I HAVE TO SCRAPE THE CAR!!". Yes, we have a two car garage, but no, neither car was in in. So, I bundle up, start the car and start scraping. It's thick snow...like use both hands to pull the scraper across the window only to uncover the top inch. Finally, I get back inside and realize, my son has no eaten anything and we should have left 10 minutes ago. So, I feed him, get him his meds, bundle him up and off we go 20 minutes late. Fortunately the main roads weren't bad and didn't slow us down much. However, a section of 4 consecutive traffic lights were out on the way there, which did slow us down somewhat. SO...a half an hour late, we get to church. Phew. By the time I got there and got Andrew in the nursury, I wanted a nap. Fortunatly, (or maybe it wasn't a good thing since it's a Bible Study) the class was very small today and it wasn't a big deal at all that I was late. The kiddos are always so much and I still really enjoyed myself. We learned about Samuel and how well he listened to God.

Andrew feel asleep as usual in the car on the ride home, so I put him straight to his crib. Then I went and napped. I actually got a nice, decent nap. Andrew woke up shortly after I put him down, but Marc rocked him and got him to nap for like another hour and a half. NICE!! Good job, Daddy. Andrew is feeling a little better. His true happy self made a few apperances today and he played by himself for a good half hour while I cleaned.

Tonight I went Jen's Southern Living party hosted at Kari's house. It was really nice. Nice to get out and spend a little time with the girls and eat lots of good desserts. (Thanks Kari).

Oh, side note: I caught Andrew standing by himself for quite long periods of time today. (I don't think he realizes he's doing it, cause he's usually checking something out when he just happens to let go of whatever he was holding on to). Marc and I think he might take a step or two by Christmas. Not full fledge walking...but maybe just a step.

Ok, enough for now. Hope all is well for those of you who take time out of your busy schedule to take a peek at my world.

Second Time 'Round

Well, our little guy is at it again. By at it, I mean not feeling well. I could tell this morning his right ear was really bothering him. He wasn't eating, fussing tons and wouldn't let me put him down. So, back to the doctor we go and what do we find out?? His ear infection is still there. AUGH! He was a perfect little boy while on amoxicillin (other than sleeping). But as soon as he was off, boy oh boy. So now we are on amoxicillin-calavanate (or something like that - without me running upstairs to get the bottle). Pray this works. I want my happy boy back.

Other than that, I feel pooped. Little guy alone wore me out today, plus I cleaned, worked on Christmas presents, went to the doctor and pharmacy and made a nice dinner. (yes, you read that correctly). It was garlic chicken with angel hair pasta and homemade alfredo sauce. And I must say...it was really good! I'm pretty proud of myself with this one...it's a keeper.

Well, I still have more I need to accomplish before I get to bed. So, that's all for now.

Iowa Thankgiving 2004 Posted by Hello

Andrew's First Visit with Santa. Posted by Hello

Home Sweet Home

We are home!! And it is oh so nice to be here. We had a wonderful trip and it was great to see everyone, but it is nice to be home. I even think Andrew agrees as he is already sleeping noticably better.

It was really nice to spend time with the family. We all arrived in IA Tuesday. Wednesday, we just hung out. We took the kiddos to the park to play but it was really cold. Thursday, Grandma and Grandpa B, Aunt Carol, Uncle Kenny, Kristin and Josh came for Thanksgiving. So there was 12 adults and 4 kids and a little craziness in the house that day...along with more food that imaginable.

Friday, we went with the kids to see the decorated Christmas trees in downtown Des Moines. Andrew got the see Santa for the first time. He just stared at him for the longest time before we got him to smile for us. Unfortunately, the one picture we got of it, looks like he's protesting when in fact, we was in the middle of smiles. Oh well.

Saturday, I got to sleep in a bit, since Grandma took Andrew for a while (I needed it desperatly after many nights of him not sleeping well at all!). THANK YOU GRANDMA!! Then the kids and myself made graham cracker houses. Well, they started as houses and I think before all was said and done, we had one house, one police car, one train, and something else I can't think of right now. It was really fun. Then Grandpa took us to see the Polar Express. Andrew and Aidan stayed with Grandma. My first theater movie since Andrew was born!! It was cute. We left Saturday night around 9pm.

We arrived early squirrally this morning around 4:00 am to find we were locked out of our home. Fortunatly, my hubby knew a trick and we were able to gained entrance. Our house was freezing. We had the heat turned off completely, and the Dressler's were kind enough to turn it on for us since it snowed 10 inches while we were gone. However, they turned it only to the 50's, so it was quite chilly. Through all this, Andrew woke up. He slept great all the way home waking up only once. However, once he saw Rocky, he was WIDE AWAKE and laughing! I didn't think we were going to be able to get him back down so that we could sleep. Thankfully, he was up only about a 1/2 hour and went back to sleep for us.

Today has been pretty lazy, as we are just recovering. It's been nice to catch up on the mail, read the paper, lounge in jammies, etc... Which means tomorrow will be busy, busy, busy with laundry, bills, cleaning, errands and grocery shopping, etc...

Well, I am off to bed. I will post a few pictures and I hope you all had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving!!

In the VIKING State!!

We are good luck! Here we are in MN and the Vikings WON! Now..they were playing the Lions, but hey...a W is a W. And how about those BUCKS!!!

It's been really nice here. Our activites in a nut shell... We drove all night Friday night and got in around 5:30 am Sat. The boys played video games and us girls did a little shopping. Yesterday, we went to Eric's church and he gave a great lesson! Next was Thanksgiving dinner that his church provided. We watched Shrek II as well. The guys are fishing right now (in very cold weather). We will be heading to Kristin & Josh's tonight to stay, maybe hit the Mall of America tomorrow for a bit, then head down to Des Moines for the evening and rest of our stay. The rest of the family will meet us down there either tomorrow or Thursday.

Andrew is doing well. Not sleeping well at night, but as happy as can be during the day. His cousins are doing a great job of taking care of him and keeping him entertained. :)

Well, this is short, and I may not report back in until we are back in MI. Then again, I might....who knows.

Shippin' Out

Well, now that Andrew seems to be feeling better, we decided to turn Thanksgiving into a full fledge vacation to MN & IA. And we are leaving tomorrow. AAUUGGHH!! I haven't packed, paid bills, cleaned, etc... And it's too late to think about it tonight.

Of course I couldn't work on it tonight, as it was my workout class at church, the Apprentice and ER tonight. :) Plus homemade pizza. YUM!!

Ok, probably won't write much for the next week.. So until then...Have a GREAT THANKSGIVING!!!

My Mom took this Picture. It's so cute! Posted by Hello

Brilliant Husband of Mine

Last night started out rough again...however, we had little man on medication, he managed to finally eat a little and Marc came up with idea to push his bouncy seat up against the crib with vibrate on.

Well, he was up and down until about 1:30...Then SLEPT until 7 am! That's better than when he's normally feeling fine. This morning, he was a happy little guy with a crusty nose. :)

I can handle crust as long as he's happy.

I'm not sure what did it, the medicine, the food, the vibration or sheer exhaustion, but I am thankful and thank you for your prayers.

Ok, we hit our doctors appt this morning and have a veggie tasting here shortly. So, that's all for now.

Eyes and Ears and Mouth and Nose...

Red and Sore and Dry and Runny.

Well, we had another rough night. Marc actually took Andrew for a car ride almost to Kalamazoo and back around 11:30, just to try and have him sleep. He did sleep in the car, however woke up about 15 minutes after they got home and we were back to square one. So, I skipped church this morning and took him to the doctor this afternoon. It was hard. The pediatrician had trouble checking his ears since he was so wiggly, so I had to totally hold him down while he was screaming. It was hard not to cry myself. Anyway, he offically has ear infections and is now on amoxicillin. However, it will probably take 48 hours to really start taking affect...so we could be in for another rough night or two. He's already been up twice and it's only 10:15. :( Please pray for us.

Tomorrow is a busy day, too. We have another doctor appt tomorrow morning, then a veggie tasting after that. Yes, Andrew has a job as a consumer research panalist. He tastes different items and we get Meijer gift cards and cash. Not a bad gig. Friday is juices. :)

Ok, I need to go to bed while I can. Hopefully I can write more positive tomorrow.

PS: Sarah, thanks for the comment. :)

Sipped Six Sodas & Got Sick, Sick, Sick

Well, he didn't sip six sodas, but he is sick, sick, sick. I've got one sick little boy. It's been a rough one today. Please pray he feels better as he's just so pathetic and sad. It break my heart. :(

Sunday Night

This will probably be short as I am tired. (Although whenever I jump on here...I think, "I'll just write a sentence or two" and a page or two later, I'm done)

We had a nice weekend. We went to Ohio this weekend to my Aunts, visited them, my parents, and cousins. We celebrated Gideon's FIRST birthday (although he got his cake today). We went to my first auction too.

Andrew learned how to make the touchdown sign from Grandpa. Here I've been working on baby signs like "more", "mom", "dad", "no", etc....for a while and instead he picks up "touchdown" in one weekend. :) It's really cute.

Then we drove back this morning for a baby shower for one of my college roommates. It was nice to get us all back together.

Ok, this really is short. Little man has a runny nose and isn't feeling well. (Thanks Gideon....we still love you). So pray tonight goes well. We have some baby meds in him.

I'm off to bed.

Mom's Night!

Thursday evenings are MINE - ALL MINE! (Bwahh ha ha ha).... :)

First of all, church is having a "Balanced Strength" class again. (kinda like Yoga, but they can't call it that at church). Kari and I went to that tonight. So that's three days a week I drive to church now...which is quite a trip..but well worth it. I really enjoy the class. Very relaxing.

Then we get back just in time for Joey from 8-8:30. Put Andrew down before 9:00 and then....
THE APPRENTICE!! I LOVE THAT SHOW!! I get so excited about it. And then...ER!! Although it was a weird episode tonight.

Oh, and to top it off, the Dresslers bought pizza for dinner....not just any $5 Little Ceasars pizza either...but PIZZA HUT PIZZA. Our favorite! Mmmmm...

So, now, if little man keeps sleeping (been up once and threatened another time already), this will be a great night. :)

Let's see...other than that, Andrew decided that he was just going to crawl right over the home-made baby gate we made out of bar stools laying on thier sides and crawl right over to the steps, where he proceeded to crawl right up one to get to some boxes. I guess we might need to invest in a real baby gate here soon.

And Andrew and I also ran errands to Walmart, Salvation Army, the bank, Aldi's and Meijer. Don't you just hate it when you have to make a bunch of stops that are all just in and out. Although, to reward Andrew (ok, really to reward mommy) for making him go with me, we stopped at Centerpoint Mall to play in their play area. In the middle of the day, there isn't a ton of kids there, so it's perfect for the wee ones. In fact, there were 2 other 9 month old boys there, so it was a lot of fun for both Andrew playing and myself talking to the other mom and nanny. When we got home, I made a little puppy chow and cleaned when I got back before heading to the class and well that's about it.

Well, I will get going since I have a very busy day tomorrow before we head to Ohio for a good portion of the weekend. Happy Veteran's Day.

Wednesday

Well, last night was a rough one. Of course, it had to come right after his best night ever. He went down fine last night...in fact a little earlier than usual at 8 pm. However, about an hour and a half later he was up and screaming and wouldn't not be put back to sleep. I think finally around 12:30 am we got him back down. Then he was up during the night as usual and up early-squirrelly at 7:00-7:15. Which I guess is fine, since we had church this morning. But I was EXHAUSTED! After church I came home and took a nap. Well, more like disturbed rest. :)

Church was good today (for those who don't know- I help teach 4 & 5 yr olds during the ladies Bible study at church on Wednesdays). The kids we have in our class (especially these triplet boys) are so cute and funny and sweet. They are just so much fun and say such funny things. I am so happy I get to do this each week.

I don't feel like I got much more done today other than dinner and some light housework. Little man is still a HUGE crankhead and I was just exhausted all day. He doesn't seem to have a cold anymore, so I am hoping a couple teeth pop through or something. Anything. I just am not sure why he is so unhappy these last couple days. I know it's about time for the separation anxiety stage, but I think it's more. I don't know - but I want my happy baby back!!

Prayer Request - Marc has an interview tomorrow for a position that he wants.

Ok....all this talk about being tired tells me I need to stop writing and go to bed.

On a side note - Andrew was laughing for a bit today. He now laughs when Rocky comes close to him. It's really funny.

Mom, stop taking pictures and HOLD STILL! Posted by Hello

I'm chasing Mommy around the yard! Posted by Hello

Andrew is 8 Months Today - Busy Day!

Well, I feel wiped out. Today was a busy one. Again, little man wasn't feeling that great, so he was high maintenance for a good portion of his awake time. But I got a lot done today. It started with me making my first batch of chili which desperately needed something. I don't know what. It tasted fine when cheese was added and dunked with bread...But...I don't know...It needed something to 'kick it up a notch'.

Anyway, then Andrew and I went grocery shopping. I really needed salt for what I was working one and thought, well since I'm going to Aldi's, I'll pick up the rest of my list. And what do you know....THEY WERE OUT OF SALT....the one thing I really needed right then. So - I had to run into the Meijer. Well, if you know this Meijers....there is no such thing as a 'quick stop'. Especially with a baby. So anyway, my quick run to the store turned into a full blow trip. Just as I get back I get a phone call asking me to bring an additional item to a baby shower this Sunday (which I have no problem with)...however, I WAS JUST AT THE STORE. :) And now I'll have to make another trio before then.

SO.... anyway, Andrew goes down for a short nap, while I clean up a bit, get the mail, chase a stray dog half way to Kalamazoo with a handful of Rocky's dog food, work on some Christmas gifts, etc... After Andrew wakes up and eats some peas and bananas, we head to the park with Rocky for a while. It was really chilly but a beautiful sunny day. When we got back, Andrew chased me around the front yard for a while.

So, the evening consisted of eating the chili, visiting with Andy who stopped over after work, working on Christmas presents some more, oh! and playing FLIPWORDS online. Marc and I are addicted to it. http://games.yahoo.com/games/downloads/fw.html

So anyway, now little man is in bed for the last hour, Marc is either playing video games or watching sports and I'm updating my blog before I try to coax him into helping my clean up the mess in the kitchen. :)

Ok, enough for now. I'm tired. Have a nice night!

Best Night Ever!!

Ok, I have to preface this with that fact that Andrew wasn't feeling well all day and slept more than usual during the day...however...

Andrew slept from 8:30 pm to 2:30am. Was up mere minutes and went back down until about 7:30 am! 11 hours and up only once!! YEAH!!!

He seems to be feeling a little better this morning so far...not great but better. (although he got to laughing while playing with his Hawkeyes basketball).

Now I thought I had a Cheerio around here a minute ago. Have you seen it?? Posted by Hello

Monday, Nov 8th

Well, today was a rough one for Andrew. He is not feeling well at all. He slept a lot...only up for an hour or so at a time. And when he was up, he just wanted to be held. He didn't even like his bath today....and he LOVES baths. I felt so bad for him. He was so miserable. Although on a selfish side note, he was more cuddly and I love to cuddle him.

Now, just because he's not feeling well, doesn't mean he can't make messes. Today, he managed to dump a whole bag of Cheerios down him and his highchair. But not just Cheerios, the powdery dust that's at the bottom of the bag was EVERYWHERE! I had to wheel him and his highchair to the front door and pull him directly outside to brush him off. Cheerios went everywhere inside and outside our house. Rocky was in heaven!!

You're probably wondering....how did he get this bag of Cheerios? I'm guilty. In effort to keep a very fussy, unhappy, not feeling well little boy from screaming long enough for me to run upstairs and find his sock that went AWOL during his nap, I gave him a SEALED quart-sized ziplock of Cheerios to shake around. (I know, I know....BAD MOM...letting a baby play with a plastic bag.) However, in all of this chaos, I did manage to catch a cute picture of my little man.

Pray he sleeps well tonight and feels better tomorrow.
