Looking for book suggestions...

All right... I'm calling in my resources. I know I have readers who are on my same wavelength as far as books go.... Amie, Andrea, Dawn, Shannon... to name a few. But I'm calling for help from any and all of you.

I am almost finished with the Twilight Series. And I'll comment on those when I've finished the final book. And usually, I already have my next few books that I want to read lined up. But not this time.
Oh, I have a few authors that are my standbys, and I have a few paperbacks laying around I've never gotten to - I can always go pick up one of those, if needed, but I'd love to hear from you.
I will be taking a road trip later this month to visit Grandparents and will probably have down time. I want books to take with me (even though there is usually an endless supply of books at their home). If I need to put any titles on hold from the library, I need to do it soon. So... if you've been a reader of mine for any length of time, you know what I read. Not too sappy, suspense and plot twists are good, I'm all for a good series, real thinkers... etc...

Help me out.

The Uglies by Scott Westerefeld and The Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld are both really good (young adult).

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (also young adult).

Graceling by Kristin Cashore is a decent and original plot (I just didn't like the strong feminism undertones).

She is a non-religious author but anything from Mary Higgins Clark is full of suspense and twists and turns. Other good books that are interesting but may not meet your criteria is Dewey and The Shack. A heavy but fasinating read is Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg. I have the two sets of five novellas from Francine Rivers you are welcome to borrow if we can connect the next time you get this way; in fact you can raid my bookshelf and see if you can find anything else of interest.

have you read "daughters of eve" by lynn austin? i also just finished "the last lacture" - which was a good fast nonfiction read. or do you read any jodi piccoult? i wouldn't recommend all or any (due to explicit sex/language), but "change of heart" or "my sister's keeper".

Okay, I know this is an old post, and you might think I'm crazy, but pick up a copy of Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Don't think about the cover art, just read it. Alicia and I don't usually agree on books, but this one she read in a single sitting. It's fantastic. One of my favorite books of all times.

I'm a huge Jodi Picoult fan. I've read/have Her Sister's Keeper and The Tenth Circle, welcome to borrow. I'm currently reading Mercy and I also have Change of Heart that is up next for me. I agree with Jenni B but all in all I like her writing style.

I finished the book "Those Who Save Us" by Jenna Blum last week.... one of the best books I've ever read!

Also, Redeeming love by Francine Rivers and Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. Jodi Picoult is awesome too... I've read My Sisters Keeper, Plain Truth and The Pact.

Check out my blog for books that I've read and if you have any questions about specific ones, let me know!

I agree...Jodi Picoult is good. I have read a lot of hers. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I just finished The Host by Stephenie Meyer..it was slow to start, but good. I am about half way through The Shack right now...it is great so far, so I recommend it. I read 46 books last year and they are all listed in the sidebar of my blog if you want a list to pick through.
