Got a taste of Spring and I love it!

I could not have picked a better day to take off work yesterday.  It was gorgeous here.  The sun was out and it was 65-70 degrees.  We took walks, played outside, and had the windows open.  It smelled wonderful!    I also watched a friend of mine's baby boy yesterday.   So it was interesting to see how it might be like when my little guy comes along.  However, I won't be pregnant at the same time.  You should have seen me trying to hold the baby and get off the couch simultaneously.

Andrew did well with the baby.  For the most part, he was more interested in the baby ‘stuff’ we had out (i.e.: the swing with buttons and music) than with the baby himself.  Although he did want to “hode it”.  (hold him)

I loved loved loved being home.  I know the weather helped…but man, I could totally get used to being a stay at home mom again.  It was so nice and I even got some things done while juggling the two kids.  Couple loads of laundry, 4 batches of pizza sauce for the freezer, tacos for dinner, all the while keeping the place pretty presentable.  And of course, as I mentioned earlier, we took walks and played outside quiet a bit, too.  It made it SO HARD to come back into work today…even if it is cloudy/rainy today.

Not much planned for tonight, maybe some errands, maybe working around the house, maybe none of the above.  I am working all day covering the east campus…so I am pretty pooped.  Have a great weekend.

Bull!

Forgive me, but this article (found via this blog) totally irritates me. The decision is each mom's choice...shame on her.

Toddler Makeover

We got our haircut yesterday (I love mine!) and my little man always looks so grown up after his.

Before

After

The after picture was a little tricker to catch since we were at some friends house who have a 3yr old boy, so there were too many new toys to check out to hold still for a picture.

Hormonal or what?

Here I sit trying to pay bills while watching Scrubs.  Carla finds out she is pregnant after a long long struggle and I am bawling!

Playin' Hooky!

I'm taking a day off!  I'm taking a day off! Woo Hoo!

I have been considering taking a day off this week, just because Monday was crazy, I am covering downtown tomorrow and working all day Friday (which is usually another super busy day).   Well, my good friend will be having outpatient work and needed care for her infant....what better excuse for me take a day off than that?!   So I worked out all the details today at work, called Andrew off daycare and on Thursday, I am officially off work for the day.

Now granted, I know that it won't be a sleep-in, watch talk shows, take a bubble bath kind of day off, but it will be nice to be home regardless.  Plus maybe this will be a good little time for Andrew to see his Mama watching a little baby.  I am really looking forward to it.

Not sure how long I can keep this up.

Work was nuts today. I mean totally and 130% nuts. I ended up being there an extra 45 minutes…15 minutes after our dept. closes. I walked my butt off today and carried much more than I should have. I was so tired and frustrated (and hungry – didn’t even have time to eat lunch), that all my willpower was needed to keep from either crying to biting the heads off my well-meaning, no fault of their own co-workers. The last thing I want to do is take my maternity leave early since I don’t get all that much, but I just don’t know if I can keep this up. At least not if days stay like this. Fortunately, not everyday is a Monday.

Other than work, today was actually a nice day. The weather was beautiful and sunny – which makes everything better. I got a lot done around the house this morning and actually more done this evening, despite my resistant body. AND, we got to go the hospital to visit some friends of our who had their baby last night. New baby boy…Nicholas James. So adorable. And of course, the Apprentice was on tonight. (I almost forgot…just like I almost do every Monday since they switched nights).

Andrew is doing well. He actually had a great day since Mom had to work late, because then he got outdoor time since the weather was so nice. The kid LOVES to be outdoors. I even let him play with his mower a bit outside once we did get home from work today. Of course, his two-year-old-ness came out when it was time to come in. M.E.L.T.D.O.W.N. But we recovered.

He was so cute with the new baby today. He wanted to “hode” (hold) him.

However, lately he’s been struggling getting through the night in his big boy bed. Nothing that a little snuggle doesn’t fix… but still requires one of us to get up with him a couple times at night. But then get this… He goes and takes a 2.5-hour nap at daycare on a regular basis. What in the world, kid? You are only there for 4.5 hours and a half hour is lunchtime. Sleep all night, don’t wake up at 6am, and then PLAY at daycare. I’m paying them to watch you eat & snooze! Ok…. whoops, got carried away there. I really do love his daycare. They are truly wonderful and Andrew loves it there.

Ok, I feel like this post is very scattered and that my thoughts are coming very randomly. I am tired and probably should have waiting for morning to post at all when I am in a better state of mind. Oh well.

Saturdays = gotta love 'em.

Today was a nice day. Marc got home safe and sound late last night (which means I didn't have the bed all to myself and therefore didn't sleep real great....I'm a terrible wife, eh.) But I am so glad to have him home. Andrew is happy to have dada home, too. So, Andrew and I got up early this morning (his choice, not mine) and let Marc sleep in. After an easy lunch, Andrew and I took naps and it wasn't until the evening when we had some friends come over for dinner, that we even got out of our jammies. Yes, lazy lazy day. Plus the house was nice and clean from my madness last week, so I didn't feel like we had to use our Saturday to get "lists" done. I'll take Saturdays like this anyday.

Rats

From: The Online Labor Prediction Quiz
This is for entertainment purposes only.

I know you were hoping we weren't going to say this, but don't expect this baby to come early. Your baby is nice and comfy tucked away in your womb and has no interest in joining the rest of the world. We predict your baby will be born after its due date. Your baby will most likely be born in the morning. Justmommies predicts that your baby will weigh approximately 7.8 pounds and that your labor will be about 8 hours long.

My calves are a'Moo-in'.

Well, I do have a little energy back again today, which is surprising since today work was super crazy busy. I swear I walk at least an average of 4 miles a day at my job. I was near that early when I started working there and wore a pedometer on a regular basis. I don’t have a working pedometer now (not that I have a waist to clip it to anyway), but “business” has picked up. All this walking would hopefully help this baby not be a latecomer this time ‘round. I just have to say how thankful I am for my good shoes. Although, I must say, as soon as I ‘stopped’ walking at the end of my day…. my calves just locked up like you would not believe. Took quite a bit of stretching this evening to relax them a bit, but man, they are still sore.

I did get a lot done today, though. Unfortunately, none of it is the visible kind of work. You won’t walk into my house and think, “Man, this place shines like the top of the Chrysler Building”. It was more of project-type work. Get this:
  • For the freezer, I got 2 packages of bacon cooked and two meatloaves made.

  • I finished organizing and putting away Andrew’s clothes.

  • I got out the newborn clothes bin, washed all those (not put away yet) and got the bassinet set up.

  • I officially finished cleaning and organizing my closet.

  • I also made two tag blankets…one boy and one girl for a friend of mind who is due any day.

  • I helped Marc on his PowerPoint presentation for his “final” tomorrow.

  • I waxed my eyebrows

  • And of course, I took care of, fed and cleaned up after a busy and moody two year old.

So, now it is time for me to head to bed. Little man’s been sleeping pretty restlessly tonight…. I think he is waking himself up coughing. He’s been up a couple times already. I may have to sneak in there and give him some cough medicine before I head to bed myself…or just plan on him finding his way into my bed tonight.

Marc comes home tomorrow. I kept telling Andrew, “only two more wake-ups and Dada will be home”. Marc won’t be home until midnight, and Andrew should be asleep for hours already at that time. We are looking forward to it! Ok, I am heading to bed.

What a contrast...

I am paying for all the work I did the last couple nights and how late I stayed up. By mid-day and I was dragging. Barely holding my head up and keeping my eyes open. Tonight, I've done nothing. My parenting skills consisted of Veggie Tales and a little bit of the movie Robots. I plopped on the couch and even nodded off a few times. Dinner consisted of grilled cheese sandwiches and applesauce with an evening snack of popcorn. I had a whole list of things to cross off tonight, but my energy level is ka-puut. So, I am pretty much writing the night off. Unfortunatly, the night I take off, there is NOTHING on tv.

I had my OB appt this morning and she doesn't expect any baby this week. That is a good thing in my book. But I got the official talk of when to page her to let her know "it's time". Other than that...not a lot to post. So that means, I am going to head to bed early tonight!
