A good day to turn four.

Today has been a good, tiring day. We played hooky from church this morning unintentionally. We really meant to get there, but with the time change, the lack of sleep last night (see previous post), three boys instead of two, etc... we just didn't make it. And I have to confess, I am glad we had a little down time this morning as the rest of the day was kinda nutty... but good nutty.

We took all three boys to McDonald's for a birthday lunch before naps. We also decided to have a somewhat impromptu party at our place this evening for Andrew with a couple other families. And as I know I have mentioned before, something happens on Sunday that causes our house to seem to blow up. So during nap time, in between fielding birthday calls, I was cleaning and wrapping gifts, etc... while Marc ran a few errands.

Once the boys woke up, we all headed to the hospital to visit Noah's mom, dad and new baby brother, Benjamin. He is so itty-bitty and adorable! Noah could not be pulled away from mom to come back home with us (plus, I am thinking that mom was missing Noah and didn't really mind), so just the four of us came home and finished up a few things before the party started. We ordered pizza and ended up with 5 adults and 5 kids here. Ryan brought a piñata, and we had a racetrack cake and treasure hunt. The kids seemed to have a really nice time.

Andrew mostly got outdoor gifts... an oversized ball and bat, a tackle box and fishing pole, and the highlight of the night.... "A BIKE WITH TWO WHEELS!" (and training wheels). He rode the bike in our house quite a bit tonight. Our house isn't that big and you can't ride backwards because that is how the brakes work. So he would ride the length of our house, then walk it backward, ride forward, walk it backward, ride forth, back, forth, etc... So cute. Despite our very busy day tomorrow (plus there is a chance we will have Noah again), we will definitely have to make time to get him out tomorrow.

Here are some pictures from the day... a good day to turn four.

AJ took a turn nailing the piñata!

Daddy showing Andrew the ropes of the new fishing pole (the answer to the post below).

THE NEW BIKE!
The Racetrack Cake.

He loved getting sung to.

And finally, a video of Andrew "releasing the candy!"

Maybe it's a good thing he didn't want to take off the helmet.
