It’s Thursday night; Marc and I just finished watching The Office and putting Andrew down for the 4th time. For some reason, he would NOT go down tonight. He would just go to his gate and cry and cry. Of course, my approached is to go up and rock and sing and calm and snuggle, which does work for a while. But Marc goes in, does his magic (aka: a stern talking to with a threat of a swat) and we haven’t heard a peep from him.
As far as I am doing, I am actually feeling pretty good over all. My voice still sounds like I’ve been smoking for years and I still have a cough that picks up at night, which make sleeping (an already difficult thing) even harder. Hence, lack of sleep for the last 4 days is my biggest complaint.
In other news, I did have a nice chat with my boss today just about my maternity leave and some other stuff. I was a little nervous going into it, but left feeling really good and valued. She was great and offered me two more weeks of maternity leave (non paid of course) since I am not eligible for FMLA. Plus she is looking into bumping up my pay a bit with a title change (same responsibilities). I can deal with that.
Not too much has gone on since I posted last other than my little guy is so funny. This morning, he walks into my room and in this sing song voice says, “Hello. Good Morning.” Plain as day. Then last night, as I was standing on the opposite side of the counter, he taps the other side of the counter (the one in the kitchen) and says, “Make Dinner, Mama.” Again, plain as day. It was so funny.
Lately his favorite song is Old McDonald. But it’s never just “Old McDonald”. It’s “Old-McDonald-had-a-farm-EIEIO” all in one breath. “Mama, sing Old-McDonald-had-a-farm-EIEIO?” “More Old-McDonald-had-a-farm-EIEIO, Mama?” And guess what’s the only animal Old McDonald ever has on his farm according to Andrew’s version? A pish (fish). So what do you sing when you get to the, “With a ______-______ here and a _____-_____ there, here a _______, there a ________, everywhere a ______-______”. Currently, in our home it’s “blub blub”, but I am open to suggestions from those of you out there who know what a fish sound like.
